Slippery Rock University holds a host of on-campus events for students to attend and be actively social at. This event called the Glow Casino was held on November 9 from 8:00 PM-10:00 PM and was hosted by SRU's fraternity and sorority life at the Student Smith Center ballroom. This was the second Glow Casino event held at SRU and just like the first run was a great success. Students were given a slip worth $25,000 in chips that they could use in games like Black Jack and Texas Hold 'em. Also free drinks were offered and students could buy things with the chips they earned!
Event coordinator Jake Reynolds gives a short description of the event and hopes more students attends events like these in the future.
Greek life is especially active here at Slippery Rock and always encourages students to feel free to attend their events and meet new people. It's a great avenue to meet other students on campus and also experience what Greek life is all about.
A great show out of students enjoys the games and free non-alcoholic beverages
Here you can see a lot of students came and the event was a great place to forget about some stresses and just hang out. Events like these really make on campus life enjoyable and entertaining for students especially as we approach the end of the fall semester.
Students bet their chips and play their bets smart hoping to win big and earn a variety of different prizes.
If you're a student at SRU and you feel like your stuck in your dorm room to often, check out Slippery Rock's events page here where there are always plenty of events posted for you to attend. Just like SRU's Greek life, there are many other organizations who host events that definitely would love to have you.
Here Jake Reynolds explains to students how to play Texas Hold 'em before they make any rash decisions with their chips.
Overall, it is greatly appreciated that events like these are held for students here at SRU. The fraternities and sororities here truly care about their university and do their best to give back. Events like these are just some of the ways they do that, so don't miss out on all these great activities they organize and plan for us.
Two players learn and play a game for their first time, putting faith into their very first bets.
If you're a new or incoming student, I hope you take advantage of events like these and really experience what SRU campus life has to offer. Not only does this school want you to succeed, it wants you to have a good time while you do so. Hopefully we may even bump into each other at the next event held here!
